These are, from a financial standpoint, some of the most unsettling times in our country that most of us have seen in our lifetime. There is a lot of uncertainty and insecurity in our country at the moment and I think that it is important to keep informed on what is truly going on & try to wrap our heads around the facts instead of the media hype of gloom & doom. There are a lot of things that are being said that can scare any of us, which can cause panic and a slow down in the economy.
My message is DON’T PANIC!
True story; I had someone call me this week to discuss the state of the market and they were ready to go and pull all their money out of the bank!!!!!!! They were completely convinced that the banks were shutting down……….all we need is a few people that panic like this and it spreads like wild fire…….kind of like Kroger at the sign of the first snow flake…..everyone makes a run. Not because they need it but because they feel it will all be gone if they don’t!
Despite what the media depicts, there is no ‘credit freeze’ and lenders around the country are still making loans and houses are still selling!!!
And because of my business and working closely with a lot of financial institutions I have not received any indication from any bank or lender that stats that they have quit lending money or that they have tightened any further on their lending guidelines.
There are a lot of houses out there to be bought & home prices and mortgage rates at near record lows. When we pull out of this, consumers who are currently taking advantage of this market could stand to earn a lot of equity in a home that they bought when prices were at their lowest and to top it off they could have a great interest rate to go with that home!
First time buyers are in the hottest seat right now. It is hard for me to imagine why any renter that makes median income or above is not ceasing this golden opportunity.
As always, feel free to call or email me with any of your real estate questions or concerns. And if you know of anyone who is thinking of buying or selling I would be happy to assist them.
Stay in touch, stay informed, the upcoming weeks leading to the election are going to prove to be interesting………
Cheers!
